Caillou is drumming and singing badly. Mom tells Caillou to shut the hell up so Rosie can take a nap and try to forget that Caillou is even her wuss brother, but he doesn’t want to at first. Of course he cries like a girl. Eventually he stops and heads off to the kitchen to make sure he’s still bald and get some cookies. They’re hard to reach though, so he cries. Then he tries to use a stool and ends up spilling the cookies as well as a jar of honey. Does he clean it up himself? Hell no! He tries to make honey cookies, but ends up making a mess again. Mom comes in and decides that rather than get upset about it (because Caillou will still be there anyway), she’ll just have Caillou help her clean up. He does and then he and Mom make cookies together. Mom thinks about lacing the cookies but decides that she’ll get caught. Sometime at the park, apparently later that day, Caillou and Mom share the cookies with Dad and Rosie. Of course this probably bothers Caillou because he isn’t real keen on sharing. Then Caillou runs off and starts covering himself with mud (because one huge mess a day just isn’t enough. Dad asks him what he’s making and he answers “a big mess.” Then Caillou cries some more.

I will be three years old in a month!! I am hoping that our upcoming Disney World trip doesn’t effect me having a Thomas the Tank Birthday Party. I know my sister loves the Disney Princesses, but I love trains! I can play with them for hours, until my sister bothers me.

If you are looking to get me a gift for my birthday, it better be a wooden train from Thomas, not those metal ones, they don’t fit on my tracks. I surfed the web, and found some great Thomas toys you can get me. You can view them here..

I guess this falls under a lesson that my Dad has been trying to teach me lately. He always tells me and my sister to be careful what you ask for.

I recently asked him to stop spanking me. I think he took my request seriously…

Lately, Dad has taken up another way of dealing constructively with my misbehavior that does not involve spanking.

My dad now takes me out for a ride in the car for a father-son talk. I overheard him telling his friends that this technique usually works because I calm down fairly quickly and the whole process really doesn’t take too much time.

Dad further was overheard saying that “By removing the child, in this case, me, from the immediate situation and providing a change of scenery, the child is allowed to focus on something different. Once the child has the opportunity to change perspective, things get better quickly and the child has better understanding of his place within the family and begins to understand the families concept of acceptable behavior.

He kindly shared with his friends a picture of the process…

mother and daughter I used this approach with both of my children with great results. When a child begins throwing temper tantrums, usually it’s in front of company or perhaps down at the corner market. Until they throw one where it’s just the two of you in a room, the main thing is to interrupt the tantrum and to remove them quickly and calmly from the public eye. Give them very little emotional feedback, no anger, no praise, simply remove them from the area they’re in. Certainly, above all else, do not give them what they’re trying to get with the tantrum.

Relax, Renew And Restore

(NAPSI)-For nearly half of American women, the daily task of juggling the demands of home, family and career is a constant challenge.

To reward busy individuals with more room for living, lifestyle expert and best-selling author Stacy DeBroff has teamed up with Kimberly-Clark, makers of trusted brands such as Kleenex® Facial Tissue, Cottonelle® Toilet Paper and Huggies® Diapers, to offer simple solutions to make life at home happier, healthier and more fulfilling.

Some of DeBroff’s tips to balance busy lives and enjoy everyday moments include:

Relax: Take Time Out for Yourself

• Reward yourself in quick and easy ways every day. Even something as small as changing scents can give you a fresh perspective on the day. Change the perfume you wear for an instant mood pleaser or try scented candles in the kitchen.

• Set the stage for some R&R. Curl up with a good book or tune in to a DVD that’s certifiably “chick-flick” material. Go ahead, let the waterworks flow! Keep a box of Kleenex brand tissue nearby for those inevitable tearjerkers.

Renew: Redesign Your Life

• Simple style solutions can infuse personality into your kitchen. Viva® towels Designer Prints complement your home’s decor with patterns and elegant borders. Choose the Viva design that matches your style and makes everyone feel welcome.

• Renew your outlook when potty training begins and focus on everything your child does right, from making it to the potty on time to even the littlest successes along the way. Load on the rewards and praise for a job well done.

Restore: Find the Balance and Live

• Be realistic. We can’t get everything done in one day. Give your to-do list a hard second look. Prioritize the most pressing chores, then push back tasks that can wait until tomorrow. Spending time with your family is more important than a trip to the post office.

• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Keep a healthy perspective and cherish your role as a woman and a mom. Remember that femininity is all about self-expression and self-esteem. Poise® products help us take back our lives and feel self-empowered and confident to take on everyday challenges.

These practical, time-saving tips will help take the stress out of daily routines, leaving more time to connect with family and friends.

Every parents knows the misery of the yearly trip to the mall to see Santa. Waiting in a long line of hyperactive kids. Your kids start crying the minute they sit in Santa’s lap. Then, you have to waste money on pictures of kids with tears all over their faces.Well, here’s a better way. Why not have Santa come to you? You schedule a time for Santa to call your kids on the phone. They will be amazed that he knows so much about them. Of course, you could just have your Uncle Bob do the same thing, but then you won’t get a CD recording of the call. And, can you really trust Uncle Bob not to tell your kids they’ll be getting the loudest, most expensive gift in the world?

I hate when an article doesn’t give me enough information…what kind of can, how long do you have to put it in for?? Oh, well. I guess I’ll have to experiment. I have to admit, I never thought of this destructive little act.

Twoyearold Blows Up Kitchen (from This Is Wiltshire)

By Gazette Reporter

A two-year-old blew up his mum’s kitchen when he put an aerosol can in the microwave.

Wiltshire firefighters tackled the blaze at the home in Essex Square, Harnham, near Salisbury at midday yesterday.

They managed to put the blaze out before it spread to the rest of the smoke-filled house. No one was hurt.
advertisement

A fire service spokesman said: The fire was started by an aerosol can being placed in the microwave by a two-year-old and the microwave switched on. This caused an explosion. Fortunately no one was hurt in the fire and everyone had evacuated the property before the fire service arrived.

This incident has highlighted several safety precautions to consider with regards to the kitchen, especially a kitchen where a young child may have access.

All electrical appliances should be out of the reach of children. This also includes cookers, hobs or anything that presents a burn or heat risk.

Try not to store flammable liquids or objects near a source of ignition and keep them out of reach of children.

If possible keep very young children out of the kitchen until they are able to understand the potential dangers.

Consider smoke alarms and make an escape plan in case a fire does occur.”
